Rough ins......

Today has been busy! The brickies turned up today for day 6,  all that is left to do is the piers inside the garage and the bottom of the windows, and the back pier. Today should have been their last day but the rain poured down at 9 am, so they packed up, and I don't blame them. They had removed another brick from my front pier too. It has rained all day.

When I went for a look the electricians were onsite, three of them, doing the electrical rough in.
Later in the day, john called to say that the plumber was also onsite again.
So it's all happening!
These are all the cables in the kitchen wall.
I always wondered how the electricity would be connected to my island bench, this is how!

Yesterday we went to the display village at Kellyville. Wow, it's huge. We went through a few homes. The new two storey edgecliffe is lovely.. If I was to build a two storey it would be that one! Whilst there we noticed a lovely kitchen that had white cupboards, black bench and black splash. We love it. So I called my SS T, this morning to ask if it was too late to get a black splash. He said he could not see why not. I emailed the person in the office, who i am supposed to contact for everything. Her response was terse and not very accommodating. I let my SS know of the response and he made it his personal mission to ensure that we get our black splashback. He went to the BW office and got the required signatures to get my splashback colour changed. I'm not sure why so many people care or need to know what colour my splashback is,but that's how it is done!

A big thank you to T today. We will always think of T whenever we look at our black splashback! It didn't need to be so difficult, I'm thankful for his customer service skills. (Thankful with a couple of cartons of beer.....lol, which beer T?)

Bricks .......day 5!

Wow, our home looks lovely. Here are some pics after the brickies were there today, on a Saturday! They are expected to be completed on Monday!
This the front with the pier that  is being fixed. My SS informs me that it's called toothing out.
The left side of the house

The back, terrazza area. There is still a brick pier to be built in the back corner.

The right side of the house.

The back of the house, two of the bedrooms.

A close up of the two bricks that are being replaced, hopefully, straight this time.

A wider shot of the front. And all the broken bricks that will be taken away in the clean up.

Reselecting carpet!

Last week I got a call to book an appointment to reselect our carpet. I was quite happy about that as I was disappointed with the old choice! Here is the old choice
And here is the better option, which was not available as our first choice. It's called Enforcer - Dark Ash.
It's a much nicer colour match. Hopefully it will match our paint colour too.

Bricks....day 2!

There are three tradies onsite today. They suggested they will be done early next week, weather permitting.......Yesterday I spoke with T, our site supervisor. The brickies told him to order the rest of the bricks! He is hoping to get the other rough ins done end of next week!
Here is progress at lunchtime today
Poor photo, but I love it. It looks exactly how we imagined. I love the brick colour.

I asked about putting lights on our front brick piers and they said there should be enough room to get the cables down!

Bricks.......

Wow, the bricks have started today, I love them. The colour is austral Urban One Silver.
From across the road I could see that all the bricks had been separated and spread around the house!
And from right out the front I could see six layers, I think they call them courses, on our side of the bedroom wall...... And the granitguard which is termite control, has already been put down, all before 12oclock.

I'm super excited to see the home come together form here! Are you following? Leave me a message, have you built? Are you building? Tell me about you?

So we went back after school pick up and they have progressed!
I love it!

Selecting a high school

So we have a busy life and building a house is not the only thing we are doing. Besides one daughter dancing four days a week. I have another daughter who dances one day a week, plays and trains for soccer two days a week and surfs another day a week! I also have a sixteen month old son. And our eldest daughter will be making the big transition to high school next year. We have been going on school tours and information sessions and we have selected the school that would suit her needs. Now we wait for the interview and hope to get in. I'm glad that I have the house building to keep me preoccupied......

Waiting for bricks to go up

Ok, so really we are not waiting long but today our bricks and everything that is needed to for them are all onsite waiting for the brickies to finish a job at Tullimbar. It keeps raining on them out there and we are getting nothing at the Rail! And every time it rains our bricks get delayed another day!
I was onsite yesterday with our supervisor and inside the house is very dark! We had planned to put a skylight in the laundry but we will be needing one in the living area too. So we are arranging for that to happen, before the walls go up, thanks to our supervisor for that suggestion!

Some pics of bricks and sand! Because I love pics.....
Our bricks are called urban one silver by Austral. I can't wait to see them constructed into our new home.

We have a roof and windows.

Our roof has been put on! I love it.

At the same time our windows were installed.

Roof installation

Our roof is going up today!
These supports go on before the anticon blanket and the colorbond. I will go back after school to check out how it looks! There is always so much more involved then I imagine!

Fascia and gutter in place

Our fascia and guttering are being put on today! Yesterday we went out to have a look and discovered  the neighbours have been using our place to dump their rubbish! We found chop bones, half a watermelon, a shattered wine glass, used cooking oil and BBQ rubbish/paper towels. It's disgusting! We shouldn't have to knock on their door and ask them to dispose of their garbage correctly! Aldo we found they are dumping their ashes from a fire in our back corner! Straight under the fence!

Delivery of the roof!

Today our roof and anticon blanket were delivered! So our roof is ready to go on now.
And the carpenters completed our roof......... I love it. Plus they finished the rear of the roof and the wardrobes in kids rooms and the niche in living room!
