Kitchen plan

Today the Kitchen company emailed telling me that BW have requested an install date! Woo Hoo! Will post kitchen images later!

This is very close to our kitchen! We wont have handles on the top cupboards, and we will have a bulkhead which makes a big difference to the appearance too! The Island is 3.5m long so there will be lots of kitchen!

Piers 28/1/14

Wow, what an exciting day in the start of building a house. It was exciting when they scraped the dirt but this was awesome. We have waited so long for this day, it felt like it wasnt real!

Firstly in the morning the digging equipment to make the holes was there by about 7.15am - sorry neighbours. I arrived to see the very last hole being dug. We were allowed up to 96lm in our tender and we came in at 65lm - phew. Thats a huge relief as this part of the build is the unknown and can become costly! Also most of the piers are between 700 and 800mm deep! Great news for us!

oops sideways, sorry! The digger truck is behind tree and loo!...lol

After this the kids and I went to have lunch and returned a few hours later.

This is what the piers look like prior to being filled with concrete.

Concrete truck number 1.

Get it right fellas, For me it is an interesting time, learning about other peoples occupations!

Concrete goes in here, before it goes into the big long pipe!

Concrete truck number two sat there for 20 - 25 mins waiting. And they tell me this is not how it usually happens. Never have the concrete truck sitting around - you pay for it! You hire the truck by the minute or so i think!!!!!!!

Later on in the evening when John was finished working, we went at to check out the piers and discovered they look a bit like this.......

So there are 76 of these things on our block - that have a vital role in our home but we will never see them again!

Whats been happening?

Here is our block when we purchased four years ago!

We got our first tender for our home back in May of 2013. It came back under budget so we made a few changes and upgraded a few things.

Then it went to Council and was approved in 8 days!

Then our bank took nearly 5 weeks to get the commencement letter happening.

Finally our countdown started late December, yay our 28 days became 2 months as the Building industry stops for one month over Christmas.......

Benching happened on 17 Jan 2014!

And the loo turned up on the same day!

BW wanted to charge us $2500 to remove 60 tonne of soil, we said no way. We arranged for our own guy, Paul, to remove it for nearly half that amount. And there was 47 tonne!

The fence arrived on 22 January 2014.

The piers were dug and concreted on 28 January 2014. We met the Site Supervisor, T, out there for the piers. What a down to earth man! Im hoping the communication with him keeps up! He suggested our roof will be on in about two weeks!

Next to happen was the plumbers laid all the pipes in preparation for our slab on 30/1/14

Catching up

My, new, husband and I purchased our block about 4 years ago. Its a lovely little piece of land across the way from a reserve and park! So we have next door neighbours either side but no one across the road. Lots of things happened to slow down the build of our home but we are finally there.

We are building the Verdehlo Guest with Beechwood. It has taken years to get this far, and now that the build has started I thought I should start documenting it.

Firstly our floor plan!

So we made a few changes! Such as the ensuite, kitchen island bench, WIP added, moved the laundry.
