Fascia and gutter arrived

I drove out today to admire my house in 3D! It really has started to look like a house now. Our gorgeous monument fascia and gutter has been delivered today!

Trusses are on - mostly..........

The carpenters worked all day in the drizzly rain, I told them that I didn't expect them to be working today and they said that they were about three weeks behind so they have to work!  Here are a couple of pics!
This is the crane onsite from the entrance to our estate! It was huge!
Craning the steel beams over. There is no room for error with all of our neighbours so close, they did well not to damage any property!
Photobomb! The steel beams for the terrazza!
The first truss going in to place!

What I found at 3pm! A nearly completed gorgeous roof!

They are due to go up tomorrow!

Here is my laundry

Here is looking in to kitchen from the back

And along the other side is our bedroom, theatre, kids rooms and bathroom, media!

We have frames

Our Frames arrived today! It's so exciting watching it take shape. Tomorrow the carpenters are booked to put them up! Will post pics after....

More delays

So our slab has been sitting for more than two weeks! The SS calls on Thursday to tell me that the frames are not arriving until Monday, they were due Thursday the 20th but there is no one to put them up until next Tuesday 25 Feb. I'm happy for them to not be sitting around all weekend onsite. That's the good news. The roof is booked to go up on March 3.

The stressful news is that our loan has expired. We self funded our initial payment, and didn't need our loan until the frames are up! The lender phoned yesterday to tell me the situation, a week after the loan expired! To say I'm cranky would be an understatement. The loan was only on offer for 90 days - which we were never told.

So now we need to reapply! It took six week last time, if they hold us up another six weeks I will be really cranky. I think I will call them everyday next week. I have emailed our customer relations person but we also emailed the branch manager. We feel this is not good enough - if the loan was due to expire why didn't anyone let us know?

This was in the same week that I took my car to the mechanic for a service and new brakes, it had been booked in two weeks ago, and they had decided ( without letting me know) to be out all morning to see the demolition of the stack on Thursday! I'm still waiting on a call to let me know. I won't be returning to that mechanic.

As an update! Our loan was reapproved already on the Monday morning! So it's no hold up, just a pain having to resign everything etc!

More dirt gone and electrical box!

On Friday 14 February the electrical box was installed!
It is connected to these pipes!

Our mate also removed all the dirt - 20 tonnes of it. So in total we had to remove 67 tonnes from our flat block!!!!!

But it looks really pretty now!

SS called this week to tell me the frames are due to be delivered on Thursday 20 February and the roof is booked for 3 March!

Wednesday 12 February 2014

We have water!

I drove out to our block on Monday and found our supervisor out there erecting a BW sign! It's official - we are building with BW! He told me that the tradies were booked to put up the frames, however the frames aren't ready and won't be until the 20th. So now we are really learning patience. The trusses are ready to go though.....lol

There was no action on Tuesday.

Wednesday, we woke up to rain, and I knew that the plumbers were booked to do the external drainage. So I figured they wouldn't dig dirt in the rain......I was wrong! They dug a huge pile of dirt, it was all over my slab. So I am now hoping for rain to wash the slab!
I took the kids down after school and they were still there! I was then informed that I would need to arrange removal of the excavated dirt. A phone call to our SS and a read through our tender concluded that yes, this was our responsibility. I just happened to take mum and dad to show them. They have a mate who lives on a property and gladly takes fill! His son drives an excavator........ So after a few more phone calls we are getting rid of the dirt.

Today the plumbers were connecting the water......baby steps but getting there

Our slab

Here is our long awaited concrete!
Isn't it wonderful? We can't wait to get on and check out our 'rooms' ....... Lol

Tuesday 4 February 2014

We have a Slab!

Today we got our slab! The rain held off and it was poured early this morning.......the kids and I were there at about 8am for the second truck! There was either four or five trucks of concrete poured into our slab.

If you are reading this, let me know. Did you build or will you build a home? To me this is the most exciting bit so far! It has been such a long journey!

Here is how it looked before 7am on Wednesday 5 February.

I will go back when the tradies are all gone to get some pics! I really don't want any pics of tradies doing what they do.....it's all a bit gross really......

Pre slab prep

Yesterday saw day one of two days of preparing for slab! The tradies don't seem to mind us checking in and out and taking lots of photos. There were four onsite and I expect as many today.
Yesterday these guys were up at 5am to be onsite for a 7am start, and it was really hot too. They suggested slab on Friday or Monday.

Who would have thought there is so much involved in the preparation of a site to build a house on - and none of it ever gets seen!
The roll of black plastic has been used today to cover the gravel (is that what its called?) I will get some pics later on today when I take the kids down after school.
This is along the side with the biggest gap between house and fence! It will be about 1.8m when finished!

UPDATE: the SS called John this morning to tell him that the slab is booked for tomorrow morning at 7 am! Weather depending.......of course for the first time in weeks it's raining today! They were still working today, laying plastic and rio over it! So not enough rain to stop work today.

Also he was ordering our frames today!
