Piers 28/1/14

Wow, what an exciting day in the start of building a house. It was exciting when they scraped the dirt but this was awesome. We have waited so long for this day, it felt like it wasnt real!

Firstly in the morning the digging equipment to make the holes was there by about 7.15am - sorry neighbours. I arrived to see the very last hole being dug. We were allowed up to 96lm in our tender and we came in at 65lm - phew. Thats a huge relief as this part of the build is the unknown and can become costly! Also most of the piers are between 700 and 800mm deep! Great news for us!

oops sideways, sorry! The digger truck is behind tree and loo!...lol

After this the kids and I went to have lunch and returned a few hours later.

This is what the piers look like prior to being filled with concrete.

Concrete truck number 1.

Get it right fellas, For me it is an interesting time, learning about other peoples occupations!

Concrete goes in here, before it goes into the big long pipe!

Concrete truck number two sat there for 20 - 25 mins waiting. And they tell me this is not how it usually happens. Never have the concrete truck sitting around - you pay for it! You hire the truck by the minute or so i think!!!!!!!

Later on in the evening when John was finished working, we went at to check out the piers and discovered they look a bit like this.......

So there are 76 of these things on our block - that have a vital role in our home but we will never see them again!
